    Register for EU Regions Week

Do you have a curious mind that is ready to be challenged and inspired? Would you like to share your insights  on international cooperation projects that your city, agency or region is working on? The International Urban and Regional Cooperation Programme’s EU Regions Week workshop may just be the event for you!

Regions and cities participate in diverse local, national, and international cooperation activities. This cooperation allows them to learn and use innovative solutions for common challenges in the post-industrial transition. Specifically, international cooperation gives a different perspective to the exchange of experiences, capacity building & global networking which can foster curious minds, creative ideas, and solutions.

In our #EURegionsWeek workshop entitled “CURIOUS MINDS FOR A STRONGER EUROPE THROUGH INTERNATIONAL URBAN AND REGIONAL COOPERATION”, we will engage the audience to demonstrate not only how international cooperation can provide an added-value when it comes to the development and activities of a city/region but also how networks and programmes can aid in establishing these international connections. Register now and join us on 10 October from 11:30-12:30 CEST! Register here.

Come with a curious mind that is ready to be tested and challenged!

During the workshop, the spotlight will be placed on participants from regions and cities who would like to highlight their experience in international cooperation. EURADA Director, Roberta Dall’Olio, and EUROCITIES Secretary General André Sobczak will also share how networks and EU programmes can aid in establishing international connections. Don’t miss out and bring your curiosity with you!

Among the more problematic effects climate change imposes on urban planners are the challenges of creating and re-purposing public spaces that mitigate urban heat islands and alleviate threats from intense rain events and flooding while positively impacting communities.

In this session, we will learn from three different projects.

    – The Moakley Park Vision Plan, presented by the City of Boston, transforms one of its largest waterfront open spaces from a largely single-use recreational facility into a resilient and multi-functional community park. The project includes coastal resilient infrastructure, innovative stormwater management strategies, and biodiverse planting.

    – The Avinguda del Vallès in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area; an integrated action plan fostering public transport and active mobility, reducing externalities and social segregation, and unlocking opportunities for urban regeneration.

Crystal City in Arlington County. The recently developed Amazon Headquarters has a ripple effect of redevelopment through a new plan that removes hard boundaries between business and the surrounding community, between built structures and nature.

Experts from each project will answer questions and discuss how these solutions can be replicated in your city.
