Representatives from Gwalior, Leuven and IURC met on 25 April 2022 in Gwalior to promote the cooperation on business incubator support and plan the exchange visit of 4 delegates from Gwalior to Leuven between 16-19 May 2022. Mr Geert Robberechts, Director of India House Leuven, visited the city to conduct a preliminary assessment of the incubator services. He met with the Municipal Commissioner and District Collector to discuss further details of the cooperation and to brainstorm on how best to exchange best practices in terms of policy, pilot intervention, training and mentoring.
He also met with few start-ups that are working on waste management, water conservation, robotics, e-commerce, apparels, food processing, conservation architecture, and tourism. They discussed their challenges such as lack of exposure, networking, training and investment, licensing requirements for overseas businesses, etc.
The cooperation can help set up specific mentoring sessions, which can help overcome some of these challenges and also open up more opportunities for these start-ups in terms of exposure, networking, business promotion, technical knowledge and others. During a press conference, the city representatives provided updates about the progress of cooperation between Gwalior and Leuven.
