IURC Annual Event 2021: a global network coming together

Categorized as News from IURC

43 countries from around the globe came together at the IURC Annual Event 2021 – two intense days discussing challenges and solutions in cities and regions

With more than 300 representatives from cities and regions tuning in over the course of two days, a major milestone for international urban and regional cooperation was reached this week with the first IURC Annual Event.

The packed agenda for the 23 and 24 of November 2021 allowed participants to deep dive into the New Leipzig Charter, the EU Green Deal, the Urban Agenda for the EU and the European Urban Initiative under Cohesion Policy 2021-2027, but that was just the beginning.

Stakeholders roundabouts on both days brought together representatives from businesses, academia and civil society to discuss with concrete examples the opportunities offered by the IURC programme and the six parallel sessions – organised in close cooperation with the four IURC Geographical Areas – explored virtuous experiences from cities and regions working on Ecological Transition and Green Deal; Urban & Regional Renewal and Social Cohesion; and Innovative, Sustainable and Carbon neutral ecosystems and strategic sectors.

We wish to thank all the speakers and participants that made this event a success and invite all interested parties to keep an eye on our website: next week we will publish the highlights and takeaways of the event!
