In this session, the O’Brien Farm in St John’s, Canada, will explain their program, School to Farm, and present their Farm Incubation program, which supports new farming businesses.
The Farm Borg project in Rimini, Italy, will present how they create gardens to promote socialization and participation in joint initiatives, develop the ability to grow shared community ideas and expand public spaces.
We will also hear from the Bergamo Botanical Garden, who will speak about their food policy projects, Science Cafe, and how volunteers link city institutions and the general public.
The webinar “Repair, Recycle, Re-use: International experiences on the upcycling of electronic waste” organized by the International Urban and Regional Cooperation Latin America (IURC-LAC) Programme sougth to share inspiration about circular economy best practices, focused on the re-use, recycling, and repair of electronic waste and other materials. Three international experiences on the creation of recycling centres and related repairing initiatives were discussed to highlight opportunities and challenges linked to upcycling experiences in cities.
During our second Sustainable Urban Mobility and Transport session, you will learn from Jacob Mason from ITDP what low-emission zones (LEZ) are and what can make them more successful. Hear directly from Jordi Jové from the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, Spain, how they were able to implement their expansive LEZ and considerably reduced private vehicles and greenhouse gas emissions, and gain insights from Lidia Henderson from WRI on how to address the challenges to implement a LEZ in your city. The three speakers will also explain how LEZ, beyond improving air quality and reducing congestion, can be an important economic and racial equity tool.
